Julia Cooke’s first book, The Other Side of Paradise: Life in the New Cuba, is just out from Seal Press. In addition to her features in VQR, Cooke is a frequent contributor to Guernica and Condé Nast Traveller (UK) and has written for the Village Voice, the AtlanticMonocle, and the Wall Street Journal

Leslie Jamison’s New York Times bestseller The Empathy Exams includes her much-heralded essays in A Public Space, VQR, Harper’s, the Believer, and other magazines, and it won the Graywolf Press Nonfiction Prize. Jamison is also the author of the novel The Gin Closet (2010).

Amy Woolard is featured in the Best New Poets 2013 anthology, and her work has appeared in VQR, Smartish Pace, the JournalFence, and elsewhere. A poet and practicing attorney, Woolard is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the University of Virginia School of Law.
