Song: A Translation

Ines Camprubi

night falling, to their beauty, to the ends of the universe rises the deep oneness of the earth.
Then our life reaches the high reason of being: we are all equal kings on earth, absolute queen.
We see her infinite brow,
we hear her voice immense,
we feel ourselves gathered together
by her two true hands.
All her ocean is our blood, our flesh is all her rock, we breathe by her air only, her fire alone inflames us.
She is with us all,
and all of us are with her,
she is enough to give
to all the eternal substance.
And we touch the ultimate height
by the light in our heads
and linger sure of being
in that which is not to be left.
