ALAN FELDMAN

Alan Feldman's early collection, The Happy Genius (1978), won the Elliston Book Award for the best book of poems published by a small, not-for-profit press in the United States. His new book, A Sail to Great Island, has been awarded the Felix Pollak Prize in Poetry, and will be published by the University of Wisconsin Press in the autumn of 2004. Feldman's poems have appeared in many magazines, including The Atlantic, The New Yorker, The Nation, Poetry, Threepenny Review, Kenyon Review, Denver Quarterly, and have been featured several times on Poetry Daily (www.poems.com). "This Fog," which originally appeared in VQR, is included in Poetry Daily's new anthology of poems from their first five years. Feldman taught the advanced creative writing workshop at Harvard's Radcliffe Seminars for twenty-two years, and has been professor of English at Framingham State College since he received his Ph.D. at SUNY Buffalo in the early 70s. He is the author of the Twayne US Authors volume on Frank O'Hara, a novel for children, Lucy Mastermind, a non-fiction narrativeof a freshman writing class in their first semester, State College 101, and several poetry chapbooks, including Round Trip (2003) featuring paintings by his wife, Nan Hass Feldman.
