when people can read Sarah palin and listen to Limbaugh,VQR dont have to worry whether people will read a genuine effort. It all depends on the subject VQR is addressing .It is more important in the context where mainstream media paints terrorism as a new phenomenon and paints an enitre community and region as animals and when it dishes out nonsense and mongers fear to common people at home it makes sense to have an in depth article as this to look directly and call it what it is nothing more than an intimidation of spineless humans(our politicians , religious leaders and justice system and others) who cant face the challenges in life without resorting to violence .

Riveting writing, excellent research. The Indian authorities should read this. There's much dumbing down happening in the media, but I'm sure there's room for such in-depth reporting.

I am 28 from India.I have been following international news from 13 and the kind of low we have achieved in twisting facts as news by robert murdoch news empire it is heartening to see honest piece of journalism from Jason.I have been reading all the articles in one go,trying to take break because of seething anger. But violence is there in all streams of life domestic violence to child abuse and trafficking to international terror to enforce political ideas and value system(Islam, christianity and any religion for that matter) because of corrupt and self centered political leaders (people in power).I hope u guys do something to people like murodch to stop raping journalism.Sincere thanks and appreciation to Jason Motlagh and your team.
