Charlotte Kohler served as editor of VQR for over three decades. Kohler, who received her doctorate in English from the University of Virginia, was one of the few women at the time to head a national literary journal. In 1969, she edited Poems from the Virginia Quarterly Review, 1925–1967. She retired after the publication of VQR’s fiftieth anniversary issue in 1975.
A great deal of information about about Charlotte Kohler is available in Tim Arnold's biographical profile of her, produced by the University of Virginia Office of Public Affairs in 2008. |
