Joshua Casteel

Joshua Casteel served as a US Army interrogator and Arabic linguist at Abu Ghraib prison from June 2004 to January 2005 and shortly thereafter became a conscientious objector. He is the author of the play Returns (published this fall in the Alaska Quarterly Review) and Letters From Abu Ghraib (Essay Press, 2008). He lives in Iowa City, where he is at work on a memoir.
