Ron Hansen is the author of nine books of fiction and nonfiction, including Mariette in Ecstasy (1991) and A Stay Against Confusion: Essays on Faith and Fiction (2001). He is the Gerard Manley Hopkins, S.J., Professor in the Arts and Humanities at Santa Clara University.
