ISSUE: Winter 2006
All winter long they are occupied only by their vacancy.
The paintings look out from the white walls.
The wicker beds and the wicker chairs are not taken.
Upstairs and down, the curtains continue to hang.
Nothing is moving except for the inflatable pool toys,
the duck, the whale, and the polka dot horse,
who have gathered at a window
to watch the lawn being buried in snow.
