ISSUE: Winter 1995
On nights when you can’t sleep
I think you open the doo
to the sky
and taking out a small broom
sweep the cosmic dust
into tidy piles
and label them
with phosphorescent ink
from the nearest moon.
Therefore the morning sky
is nothing if not pure
blue. Therefore you sleep
past noon so the telltale dust
caught in your eye
won’t give you away.
