Editor’s note: In 2006, the cartoonist and illustrator Peter Kuper moved, with his wife and daughter, to Oaxaca City, Mexico for a year’s stay. His drawings featured here were made during the protests that occurred at the time of a teacher’s strike in October 2006. Kuper’s drawings accompany Matthew Power’s essay in the Summer issue, “One More Martyr in a Dirty War: The Life and Death of Brad Will.” They’re presented here with the permission of the artist.
