Elegy for Marlin

ISSUE:  Summer 2012
      My godmother says

      always vigilant

      Named after a fish

      Moon shone clean

      lettering

      swept for a house

      a dog at my bone

      at my throat

      no fence         tree

      whose name was

      A young man

      early twenties

      hooked a sun

      in the sea

    drowned
      Last night I saw marlin

      in the yard

      marlin raking

      ginkgo leaves, bottles

      the earth

      Walking in the road

      wetness

      teeth         ivy

      in the front yard

      vigilance

      marlin     ash-slender

      javelin-spear

      fierce swimmer

      name was deliverance

    in air.
