Just A Moment—I Am Busy Being A Man

ISSUE:  Summer 1990

Just a moment—I am busy being the brain of a man.
Just a moment—no colors, please, no sounds.
A little spittle being ground into dust, but no more.

Just a moment—I am busy being the heart of a man.
Just a moment—no thoughts, no politics please.
A little blood turned into pebbles, but it’s enough.

Just a moment—I am busy being the soul of a man.
Just give me a moment—no aches and pains, please.
A minute alone with the corpse, one is plenty.

Being the brain, the heart and the soul of a man
isn’t easy. There aren’t any buttons, and no manuals,
and it’s not easy—-just a moment! just a moment!
