Tracking Shots

ISSUE:  Winter 2013

Yes, there were “close-ups.” In a marriage like theirs,
there were many, and each was easy to find
(her lovely face, her smiles, her pensive stares)
each engrained forever within his mind.
Of course, there were many “two-shots” too:
sitting up in bed, late into their nights,
or dining in the Village or Malibu,
or staring at the ocean at Seaside Heights.
But it was the “tracking shots”—as she’d walk by—
that he cherished the most, forever watching to see
her move—like Sacha Vierny, with his eye
against the lens of a Mitchell BNC,
anamorphically pushing the envelope,
always tracking his love through Dyaliscope.
