Diane Seuss

Biography

Diane Seuss is the author of six poetry collections, most recently Modern Poetry (Graywolf, 2024), shortlisted for the 2024 National Book Award for Poetry, and frank: sonnets (Graywolf, 2021), which won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, the 2022 PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry, and the 2021 National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry. Her work has appeared in Poetry, the New Yorker, the Georgia Review, Gulf Coast, the Missouri Review, and elsewhere.

I dreamed of it again, my dad’s body lost to us again but finally 
found again, we set him in Dickinson’s coffin, wooden, painted 
white, where had his body been all these years, things felt strange,

After the pigs and lambs and rabbits were sold off at auction they
bought a 30 dollar goat and named it Snowflake Brownie and then
a second one called Cookie Dough the third Brandon but the names
melded into dubbing them the Healing Goats...

red circuits ruptured, body facing east toward a little town named 
Climax and then New York where I once danced in a circle of girls
