Vik Muniz

Biography

Vik Muniz is an artist and photographer whose works have been exhibited in museums such as the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museo Nacional del Prado, Tate Modern in London, among others. Waste Land, a documentary about his work in the favelas and landfills in Rio de Janeiro, was nominated for an Academy Award in 2010. His most recent publication is Vik Muniz on Photography, Mind, and Matter (Aperture, 2025).
