While she had to endure
everybody hearing,
her abusers absolved,
being rich,
being boys,
I can’t be sure
and hardly tell myself.

Still, I persist,
being a boy,
being rich,
telling myself
that I was kept
from much worse,
or spared it,
anyway—
hidden
in a den,
I say,
sewn up
with golden thread
in Zeus’s thigh.
