Grief of Silence

Grief of the sea,
cold lights drifting
over marble plains.

Grief of the moon,
its silver standing
bright on walls of skins.

Grief of the piper
whose music
is no longer music.

Grief of the mouth
which pours out stars
instead of words.

Grief of the stars
for their distance
from the moon.

Grief of the moon
guiding the white sailor,
despite the blinding
Blackness on his ship.

Grief of the Black
bodies wrapped
in shawls of night.

Grief of you,
grief of me,
who now know

the architecture
of silence.
