Starwork

There is a Florida beyond the stars.
It is the same state I find waking here,
alone with my aloneness in the dark,
all things now possible because my own.

Afterwards

 A short ride in the van, then the eight of us 
   there in the heat—white shirtsleeves sticking,
the women's gloves off—fanning our faces.
