Paul Yoon

Paul Yoon is the author of the story collection Once the Shore (Sarabande, 2009), which won a 5 Under 35 Award from the National Book Foundation, and the novel Snow Hunters (Simon & Schuster, 2013), which won the Young Lions Fiction Award. He teaches creative writing at Harvard University. A second collection, The Mountain (Simon & Schuster, 2017), is forthcoming.

Antje came to Spain three years ago. She worked as a hotel maid in San Sebasti√°n, where she met Mathis and married him. He was a manager at the hotel. He was eight years older. She was twenty-four and had left Germany after her mother died. Her mother had been in Kabul, serving as an engineer in the Bundeswehr. Antje had never traveled abroad before.
